In brief: you are an independent contributor, free to choose which tasks you do and when. Work is paid once approved. Earnings are not guaranteed. Please work honestly, keep task content confidential and respect other people's privacy.
1.Acceptance of these terms
By registering for an account or using Coldab, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. Individual tasks may include extra instructions or conditions set by the requester; where they apply, they form part of this agreement for that task only.
We may update these terms from time to time. If a change is significant, we will give you notice by email or in the member area before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that date means you accept the updated terms. If you do not, you may close your account at any time.
2.Eligibility
To use Coldab you must be at least 18 years old, able to enter into a binding contract and legally permitted to earn income in the country where you live. You are responsible for checking that taking part does not breach any agreement you have with an employer or any restriction attached to benefits you receive.
Some tasks are available only in particular regions or languages, or to members who meet a requester's criteria. Being eligible to register does not mean every task will be available to you.
3.Accounts
You may hold one account only, and it must be registered in your own name with accurate details. Please keep your profile up to date so that tasks are matched fairly. You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity that takes place under your account.
Accounts are personal and may not be sold, transferred or shared, including with members of your household. If you think someone else has accessed your account, change your password immediately and tell us at info@coldab.com.
4.Tasks and instructions
Tasks are posted by organisations, referred to as requesters, and presented to you through the platform. Each listing shows a description, an estimated time, the payment offered and any requirements. You are free to accept or decline any task, and declining or skipping a task does not affect your standing.
When you accept a task, you agree to follow its instructions. Where task instructions conflict with your usual approach, the task instructions take priority. If anything is unclear, please ask a question through the task page before submitting. Estimated times are a guide only, and some tasks have a time window after which they return to the pool.
Some tasks, such as mystery visits, may involve a small purchase or travel. The brief will state clearly what, if anything, is reimbursed and what evidence is needed. Expenses not mentioned in the brief are not reimbursed, so please check before you set out. You should never be asked to pay PENNA PLC Company number 01918150 or a requester in order to access or complete a task.
5.Quality and review
Submitted work is reviewed by the requester, by our quality team or by trained reviewers, sometimes with the help of automated checks. Work is assessed against the brief for accuracy, completeness, originality and effort. Reviews aim to be consistent and reasoned.
We may maintain a quality score based on your review history. The score helps match you with suitable tasks and may affect access to certain projects. It is not affected by skipping tasks, by asking questions or by periods of inactivity.
6.Rejected work
Work that does not meet the brief may be rejected or returned for revision. Rejected work is not paid. Each rejection will include a reason. Where a task allows it, you may revise and resubmit within the time shown.
If you believe a rejection was mistaken, you may request a second review from your review record within the period shown there. A different reviewer will consider the work and your explanation. Their decision is final for that task, but it does not limit any rights you have under law.
7.Payments and thresholds
The payment for each task is shown before you accept it. Once your work is approved, the amount is added to your available balance. Pending amounts are not yet earned and may change if work is rejected after review.
You may withdraw your available balance once it reaches the minimum threshold shown in your account settings, using one of the payout methods offered in your country. Withdrawals are processed in regular batches, and indicative timings are shown when you make a request. Payout providers may charge fees, which will be shown before you confirm.
We may withhold or reverse payments for work that was obtained through fraud, duplicate accounts or a serious breach of these terms. Earnings are not guaranteed: the volume of available tasks depends on requester demand and may vary considerably over time.
8.Taxes
You are responsible for declaring and paying any tax or national insurance due on your earnings and for any registration that may be required where you live. We do not deduct tax from payments unless the law requires us to. You can download your earnings history at any time to help with your records. Where we are legally obliged to report earnings to a tax authority, we will do so.
9.Independent contributor status
You use Coldab as an independent contributor. Nothing in these terms creates an employment, worker, agency or partnership relationship between you and PENNA PLC Company number 01918150 or any requester. You decide whether, when and how often to work, which tasks to accept and which equipment to use. There is no obligation on us to offer work or on you to accept it.
Because of this status, you are not entitled to employment benefits such as holiday pay or sick pay from us, and you are responsible for your own expenses, such as internet access and devices.
10.Acceptable use
When using the service you agree not to:
- provide false information or impersonate anyone else;
- create or operate more than one account, or use another person's account;
- use bots, scripts or automated tools to complete tasks, unless a brief explicitly permits it;
- submit copied, plagiarised or machine-generated content where original work is required;
- include personal information about other people in submissions without permission;
- attempt to bypass quality checks, attention checks or security features;
- harass, threaten or abuse other members, staff or requesters;
- use the service for anything unlawful.
11.Intellectual property in submissions
When a submission is approved and paid, you assign to PENNA PLC Company number 01918150, or directly to the requester where the brief states so, all intellectual property rights in that submission, and you waive any moral rights to the extent permitted by law. This allows requesters to use, edit and publish the work without attribution. If a brief states different terms, those terms apply.
You confirm that each submission is your own work and does not infringe anyone else's rights. The platform, its design, software and content remain the property of PENNA PLC Company number 01918150 or its licensors, and you may use them only for the purpose of taking part.
12.Confidentiality
Some tasks involve unreleased products, private research or other sensitive material. You agree to keep all task content confidential, not to copy, screenshot or share it outside the platform, and not to discuss it publicly, including on social media. These obligations continue after your account is closed. Information that is already public through no fault of yours is not covered.
13.Suspension and closure
You may close your account at any time from your settings or by emailing us. We recommend withdrawing any available balance before you do.
We may suspend or close an account if we reasonably believe these terms have been breached, if required by law, or to protect members, requesters or the platform. Where possible, we will explain why and give you an opportunity to respond. If an account is closed for reasons other than fraud or serious misuse, we will pay any approved balance that has reached the withdrawal threshold.
14.Liability
We work to keep Coldab available and reliable, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access or a particular volume of tasks. The service is provided on an "as available" basis.
To the extent permitted by law, PENNA PLC Company number 01918150 is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of income arising from the unavailability of tasks. Our total liability to you in connection with the service is limited to the amount of approved earnings owed to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law, and nothing affects your statutory rights.
15.Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any dispute will be subject to the courts of England and Wales, although if you live elsewhere in the United Kingdom or in another country, you may also have the right to bring proceedings in your local courts. We would always prefer to resolve concerns informally first, so please contact us before taking formal action.
