Getting started
4 questionsAnyone aged 18 or over who can legally earn income where they live is welcome to register. You will need a valid email address, a phone number and a device with a reliable internet connection. Some tasks are limited to particular regions or languages because requesters need specific audiences, so the number of tasks you see may differ from what a friend elsewhere sees.
You will receive a welcome email with a link to confirm your address. After that, a short set-up guide asks about your preferred session length, the devices you use and the topics you are interested in. It takes around five minutes. Once it is complete, your task feed fills with work that matches, and you can start whenever you feel like it.
No. Joining is free, and there are no premium tiers, starter kits or training courses to buy. We earn from the organisations that post tasks, not from members. If you ever receive a message asking you to pay to unlock work under our name, please do not pay and forward it to our support address so we can investigate.
None. There are no minimum hours, weekly targets or activity streaks. Some members log in for five minutes most mornings; others do a longer session once a fortnight. Your account stays open either way. We would rather you worked when it genuinely suits you than felt obliged to show up.
Tasks
4 questionsThe main categories are surveys, short writing, web research, mystery visits, app testing, photo and audio collection, video review, data labelling, transcription review, search relevance rating and translation checks. Availability changes from week to week depending on what organisations need. The task library describes each category in detail, including typical durations and requirements.
Certain projects, such as labelling, transcription and translation, depend on everyone following the same detailed rules. A short qualification quiz checks that you have understood the guidelines before real items reach you. Quizzes are free, usually take ten to twenty minutes, and most can be retaken after a short wait if you do not pass at first.
Yes. If a task turns out to be unclear, uncomfortable or simply not for you, use the skip button and it returns to the pool. Skipping does not affect your quality score. Please do not submit half-finished or guessed work just to move on — that is what can lead to rejections, whereas a skip never does.
Task volume rises and falls with demand from requesters, and some projects target particular regions, languages or devices. Quiet spells are normal, particularly around holidays. Keeping your profile accurate, completing a few qualifications and allowing notifications for categories you enjoy all help, but we cannot promise a steady flow at all times.
Payments
4 questionsEvery task shows its payment before you start, alongside an estimated time. Prices are set per task rather than per hour, so your effective rate depends on how quickly and accurately you work and which categories you choose. Longer, more skilled tasks such as writing or translation checks generally pay more than quick ratings.
Submitted work shows as pending while it is reviewed. Many reviews complete within a few days, though some requesters take longer, particularly for larger batches. Once approved, the amount moves to your available balance and appears in your earnings history with the task name and date.
Yes, there is a modest minimum balance for withdrawals, which keeps transfer fees reasonable. The current threshold and the payout methods available in your country are always listed in your account settings. Withdrawal requests are processed in regular batches, and the expected timing is shown when you make a request.
Possibly. Members are independent contributors and are responsible for their own tax affairs. In the UK, small amounts of side income may fall within the trading allowance, but your circumstances will depend on your other income. Your earnings history can be downloaded at any time. If you are unsure, HMRC guidance or a qualified adviser can help.
Account & security
4 questionsUse a unique password and switch on two-step verification in your security settings. You can also see a list of devices signed in to your account and sign any of them out remotely. We will never ask for your password by email or phone, so treat any message requesting it as suspicious.
No. Each person may hold one account, and accounts cannot be shared with family members or friends. Duplicate accounts distort research results and are closed when found. If two people in your household both want to take part, each should register separately with their own details.
Occasionally we ask members to confirm their identity before a first withdrawal, or when we notice unusual activity such as sign-ins from several countries in one day. This protects your balance and keeps the community fair. Verification documents are handled securely and used only for that purpose, as explained in our privacy policy.
Go to account settings and choose "Close account", or email us. We recommend withdrawing any available balance first. Once closed, your personal data is deleted or anonymised, apart from records we must keep for legal or accounting reasons. You are welcome to register again in future if you change your mind.
Devices
4 questionsMany members do. Surveys, photo tasks, audio clips, data labelling and search relevance ratings all work well on a phone. Writing, research and video review are more comfortable on a larger screen. Use the phone-friendly filter in your feed to see only tasks that suit a small screen.
The platform works in current versions of the major browsers on Windows, macOS, Android and iOS. Keeping your browser up to date avoids most display problems. Some app testing projects require a particular operating system version, which is always stated in the task listing before you accept.
Most longer tasks save your progress automatically every minute or so. When you reconnect, reopen the task from your "In progress" list and carry on. Very short tasks may need to be restarted. If a task's time window expires because of a connection problem, contact support with the task name and we will look into it.
Not for most work. A phone or computer with a stable connection is enough to begin. Audio tasks are easier with headphones and a basic microphone, and transcription review benefits from a comfortable keyboard. Nothing needs to be bought in advance; try the categories that suit what you already have.
Support
4 questionsEvery task page has a question button. Your message goes to the support team with the task details attached, so you do not need to explain which task you mean. Questions about instructions are often answered within a working day, and asking never counts against your quality score.
Yes. Open the task in your review record and choose "Request second review". Add a sentence or two explaining why you think the work met the brief. A different reviewer looks at it, and if the original decision was wrong, the task is approved and paid. We use these requests to improve unclear briefs too.
Skip it and, if you can, use the report option to tell us why. Some moderation or content-review projects carry a clear warning beforehand, and you are never obliged to take them. If something you saw has stayed with you, please get in touch; we take member wellbeing seriously and will listen.
We aim to reply to most messages within one to two working days, and often sooner. Payment and security issues are prioritised. Replies come from people on our support team rather than an automated script, so it can occasionally take a little longer during busy periods.
